Institute for Research in Materials: The Institute for Research in Materials at Dalhousie University is comprised of about 100 faculty members in six faculties and 18 departments. Research topics range from nanomaterials to macroscopic structures and include experimental and theoretical approaches. Professor Richard Dunlap, Director.
Associated research facilities:
Aquatron: Dalhousie University's aquatic research facility. The Aquatron Laboratory features marine and freshwater facilities for researchers from university, government and industry.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Research Resource: Located in the Chemistry Building at Dalhousie, it has a staff of three PhD scientists and instrumentation for liquids and solids ranging from 250 MHz to 700 MHz.
Trace Analysis Research Centre (TARC): A centre of excellence in analytical chemistry, TARC was established in 1971 with the help of a National Research Council Negotiated Development Grant. The centre is currently directed by Professor Lou Ramaley and is widely recognized internationally as a major centre for research in analytical chemistry.
